NATURAL FREEZE-DRIED FEEDS IN THE DIET OF AQUARIUM FISH

So-called natural feeds are composed of whole organisms that have not undergone the usual processing. Supplementing the usual diet of fish with natural feeds is very important: not only is the natural hunting and predation behavior visually and olfactively stimulated, but it has also been shown that whole foods promote the proper development and function of internal organs, especially in young, growing fish.

The freeze-drying process (freezing and subsequent dehydration in a controlled atmosphere) to which they are subjected allows them to retain virtually all the nutritional properties of the food, including vitamins. Upon subsequent rehydration with water and feeding, the fish then take in a complete food that is almost identical to natural live food.

The use of freeze-dried natural food is especially recommended for animals accustomed to hunting live prey, or during acclimatization when conventional feed is not accepted.
