AquaTest NO3 from ELOS is a test for measuring Nitrate in marine or freshwater aquaria

In the normal biological filtration process where nitrifying bacteria convert by-products from fish, via the nitrogen cycle, there is an accumulation of NO3 as a residue of the whole process. In the nitrogen cycle, a first type of bacteria (Nitrosomonas) convert ammonia into nitrite (you can find the relevant Elos AquaTest NO2 here), a second type of bacteria (Nitrobacter) in turn convert nitrite into nitrate (NO2 to NO3).

Invertebrates, unlike fish, absolutely cannot tolerate a high concentration of nitrates (NO3). It is therefore of paramount importance, especially for marine aquaria populated with invertebrates, to keep this parameter under constant control.

In freshwater as well as marine aquaria, the maximum nitrate level should be below 15 mg/l, which will be 5-12 mg/l for aquaria populated with invertebrates.

ELOS AquaTest NO3 has been specially developed for aquaria. It allows you to check the NO3 value easily and accurately through the use of very precise reagents and an accurate colorimetric scale that is suitable for nitrate concentrations between 5 and 75 mg/l.
