Triton Carbon is a superior granular activated charcoal that allows removal of toxins, medicines and unwanted coloration from aquarium water.

Triton Carbon used regularly allows the removal of the so-called "gelbstoff," a German-language term for the coloration of seawater due to decaying organic substances that release coloring substances from the water.

The process occurs both in nature and in aquaria. The characteristic yellow water coloration, if not sought after, limits light penetration, and makes the environment appear darker.

Granular activated carbon also allows for the elimination of volatiles (water that "stinks") that can be generated from a malfunctioning filtration system.
