HM Digital's TRM-1 is a continuous TDS meter.

TRM-1 allows measurement of water entering and leaving reverse osmosis systems and all systems that require continuous water quality monitoring.

TDS stands for Total Dissolved Solids that is the amount of all ions present in a volume of water including heavy metals (copper, lead, etc.) and is expressed in mg/L or ppm (parts per million).

The TDS value is related to water quality and the functionality of the reverse osmosis membrane. The higher the TDS value, the lower the water quality. A drinking water quality should not >500 mg/l.

The use of TRM-1 on reverse osmosis aquarium systems makes it possible to evaluate the quality of water produced and the efficiency of filters allowing to assess the time of replacement; but having an additional sensor, the third one, it is possible with one device, to monitor the exhaustion of post-osmosis resins. A real convenience !

Install the three sensors like this:

• sensor 1 after the prefilters but before the reverse osmosis membrane
• sensor 2 on the permeate pipe, after the membrane but before the post-osmosis resins
• sensor 3 after the post-osmosis resins

you will be able to easily monitor the depletion of the same resins, and take timely action to replace them.

TRM-1 is calibrated at the factory. Calibration can be done with the 342 ppm NaCl solution, but it is usually not necessary.
